New year, new Krenn - Dev blog n'1
A long time has passed since the last, proper announcement I posted here and I thought this was the right time to update you all.
January 2021, The Krenn Team is working on a new scenario... On a proper multiplayer mod for Mount and Blade Warband. Yes, Krenn 5 won't be hosted on PK, that's our plan. We're preparing a custom module that will keep Persistent Kingdom's skeleton, features and scripts with new resources, textures and animations taken from 457 AD, the mod I've been helping as historical researcher since a year circa.

Basically, to put it simply, we will be hosting Krenn on a fully fleshed out mod that will allow us to RP like we did in Persistent Kingdom (if not in an even better way) with new weapons, armors, passive clothings, new animations and scene props. In the future we will probably have the chance to add more food variety, more passive tools and materials, even more items and animations.
457 AD is an amazing SP mod set during the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century CE with many features, a huge map of Europe and the Middle East, many factions and historically accurate equipment (as much as we could, sources are scarce). I talked extensively about this mod here, take a look. We, instead, are not going for an historical scenario for Krenn5, because we know many of you know very little of this century, but we will instead go for a more popular Bannerlord/Warband thing, set in Calradia's 5th century. There will be Vlandians, Imperial/Calrads, Battanians, etc etc: all those factions you managed to know through Bannerlord and our previous scenarios like Krenn 1 and Krenn 2.
This new mod will have hundreds and hundreds of new items fitting this time period. We will also make it possible for the players to use throwing weapons such as javelins of different kind, "pilae", martiobarbuli, franziskas and slings. We will also have new powerful long lances for the cavalry called "kontos": they're extremely strong and they can hardly be avoided if fighting on foot, but the rider is left exposed to missile fire while using his heavy lance with both hands. Maces will be fewer, but there will be a greater variation of axes, knives (seaxe) and longknives (langseaxes) that actually resembles short swords and are very quick slashing blades.
All these new combat and passive items will finally give us the chance to properly RP factions that were very difficult to portray on PK, as we saw in Krenn 1 or in Krenn 2 when we had no accurate stuff for the Imperials/Calrads.
However, there will also be new in-game mechanics like this that are still in development, we will also have new OOC classes and more. About those wondering about mostly passive stuff, we will make a new dev blog in the future about those but again, let me repeat that PK's core mechanics such as farming, crafting materials-gathering will remain mostly the same, with new items that will be added over time.
The scenario will be set in the region around Lycia, a Calrad city that was "cut out" from the main body of the Calradic Empire because of the Vlandian invasions. The setting will see a main city controlled by three themed oligarchs, each holding a part of the town. They’re from different philosophical backgrounds and have to work together to keep the town running. Players will ultimately do what they want, but I won’t go into detail about the specifics of interdependency here. They would not be veterans of war, or donning plate armour and war horses. Though the players would be able to pitch that their character practiced combat leisurely or had an interest in warfare. They would have “Support Noble” standard equipment, perhaps on par with military officers, though only worn in dire situations.
Outside the city two Vlandian warbands wait for the right time to strike and capture the city. They're led by two landless Counts that were once part of the King's retinue and are now looking for a way to gain fortune, wealth and glory. They're poor, but armed and numerous: they can do little alone against a walled city, but if working together they can think of a way to achieve their goals. More like glorified bandit parties these warbands made of young warriors have been sent to the border by their king to, hopefully, capture Lycia with the strenght of their arms or with treachery.

- Release date? We're still modding and therefore not soon.
- Can I be a noble/whatever? We're not accepting applications of any sort as of now. Exception made for staff members and loremasters/mappers.

- Wlod, will you keep PK's items and let us use them? I will keep the entirety of PK's items, but I won't let you use most of them. Exception made for passive clothings, tools and things like these.
- There are other servers up and running/coming soon, do you want to launch your server alongside these and start a server war? No. We won't launch as long as there are other servers up and running and we hope, this way, to set a new standard for the community from now on. That's also why we're taking it easy for the moment as there's really no rush to open the server right now. Plus, it's always good to remind the playerbase that most of us have a job, some a family and therefore this process might take some time. We will, however, make sure to update you with new posts like this one.
- Aren't you worried by the fact that few new players will join the mod because you're not on PK anymore? No, we will use 457 AD as main mod to make new players know about our multiplayer, RP mod based on the sp one. Plus, we will have our own page on MODDB where we will regularly post updates and patches to ensure an actually bigger flow of new players. On the other hand, PK has been slowly decaying for a long time and while we're extremely happy with the opportunities this mod has given us, we would now like to try new experiences.
- But Wlod, why can't we just have a normal scenario? You had a normal scenario in Krenn 4 and abandoned it. Plus, if you guys want to play a normal scenario with a classic setting of Swadians, Vaegirs and Rhodoks you should probably try the new servers incoming.
- But Wlod, why arent you doing this on Bannerlord? Because modding tools are too few to properly do a RP mod and if we are to host a server on Bannerlord it will be on peculiar buckberg 's mod that I suggest you to check it out here.
It's called Bannerlord Roleplay and it will probably be the next platform for this community.
- What are you doing for the development of the mod? We're now fixing and polishing the SP version of 457 AD to then release it on MODDB which is the biggest thing right now. The single player version of the mod will help you getting more aquainted with the settings and the new items. Once the SP version is fully fleshed out (and it will happen soon, in matter of weeks probably, unless the dev decides otherwise) we will just import the premade assets into our mod and test it.
- Wlod, do you have PK's and 457 AD's dev team permission to use their mods? I do. I spoke with both William (PK) and Oliver (457 AD) and I was given the source codes of both the mods. Plus, I also spoke with saptor who will port the PK's script into this custom mod. As I said, this mod will keep Persistent Kingdoms skeleton and features with new resources, animations and scene props.
- Wlod, do you need help? Yes, I do! I need peope that can mod, model or have some experience with that. Alternatively, we also need mappers and loremasters very much.
- Wlod, I still dont like your projects and I will make sure to let you know I won't play Krenn! Ok, fuck you
- I am banned, I cannot play. Bans will be wiped entirely from the DB, a new beginning for everyone.
