Hi there, I figured it'd be nice for you guys to have some information regarding the launch today. To make it clear, the launch will be in 4 hours. That's 16 GMT.
We also have a new panel, provided by saptor which isn't fully fleshed out yet. That means if there's some things that take time, you'll have to bear with us. Everything in terms of the in-game aspect works perfectly so it shouldn't be a major issue.
Furthermore, there's a few things you have to know regarding this scenario and regarding the community as a whole.
Here comes an official message from the Staff Team, courtesy of seltan for writing the whole thing;
With the launch of the next scenario based in Nomar we as the staff have reached a milestone with our 4th scenario. Whilst the RP community has been out there for years now there are always changes with each new scenario. Some of us have been around for years and others have freshly joined. To make the scenario more enjoyable and fun to play we have decided to make a few changes to how certain actions are understood. Below there will be a list of these changes as well as some general information the staff wishes to share with the community before the scenario starts.
Cliffglitching and map design
Unfortunately, this is an old game. None the less we strive to improve it to the highest possible degree. As such for this scenario we have decided to allow more player freedom in traversing the map and terrain. The general rule here is, if there is no barrier or if it is physically and realistically possible for your character to reach an area, the area is intended as part of the map. Of course, common sense still applies here so please make sure your actions are within reason as you are responsible for keeping to a realistic standard. If you see other players breaking this either record them, most graphic cards come with free recording software, or take screenshots as this helps immensely.
Events and how they'll be run
Events will be made more challenging and less pandering to players sense of accomplishment. Participating in these events will always carry an inherent risk to your character so keep this in mind. Unless a major attack is about to happen players will be given no warning about potential hostilities. If you are caught out that's just plain bad luck. We also intend to make events more natural and integrated into the world. Whilst smaller scale traditional events will still be run by our event team expect a few larger and more dangerous ones from time to time. All of these larger events will be run by admins+ and will always include multiple solutions and depth and naturally bring with them a higher reward.
Roleplay Standards
With the recent drop in standards, we as a staff team hope to elevate the general level of roleplay on the server. This goes for all levels of play and especially for players that have been playing this type of server for an extended period. Staff will enforce these standards if need be removing anyone intentionally breaking these standards. Included in this are basics such as common sense and fear RP. With varying degrees of interpretation by different players, we won't instantly ban you. But expect to see staff more actively pursuing these types of offences.
New Players
We ask that you don't punish new players for not knowing how to play. Either refer them to staff and the website or help them yourselves. Troll prevention spawn killings are not allowed and count as a rule break. If there are no staff members able to help you can ignore the "trollish" new player. Staff will refund any damage done. Make sure to supply staff with ample time frames to make this process easier.
Fighting and Combat
We hope to make this scenario less reliant on pure engine fighting. As such any player found to be baiting fights or doing minimal roleplay will be warned and punished. This does not mean engine fights are not allowed; we just want them to have more consideration and depth.
Vision
We hope to make the server player-driven. We will always regulate and run events but we hope to keep staff intervention to a minimum. This will only be possible if all parties keep to the rules laid out by the staff team. Whilst we will actively animate the server we hope that players create roleplay for themselves. We hope that the scenario provided will aid in this endeavour and we are willing to make changes in areas that hinder this.
Communication
Staff wishes to include player feedback and mindset in the scenario. If you find something or have a suggestion however small it might be, feel free to contact senior staff. (Admins+) Please contact them either via the suggestions board or the forum PM system. If you wish to discuss something with one of us we'll try to make some time for it on either Teamspeak or Discord. Please feel free to post any suggestions that fit into the suggestions board as we will always review them. (Unless we already have the feature implemented or it's not technically possible)
