Chapter IV: The Battle of Longdead River

1 June, 1257, Longdead River
With the insurrectionist Taigans crushed underfoot by the advancing Vaegir army, the invincibility of the northern host spreads throughout Swadia. As such, the Duke of Dhirim Aelred the Cruel has pledged to his vassals that he will personally lead a vast army north to crush the Marshal Naldera. For this purpose, he has begun mustering at the strategically placed Longdead River - a dried out river guarded by a ruined Calradic fort. Here, he has called all his vassals - from Derchios as far south as Reidi.
Little does Aelred know, however, that the cunning Marshal has caught wind of this rallying cry - and has dispatched the veteran vanguard of his spearhead to ambush and defeat the Duke. The Vaegir advance has been swift, and the lazy and ill-prepared Dhirimite retinues Aelred has brought up with him can do nothing but prepare and brace against their much more prepared Vaegir counterparts.
Should the Duke be defeated in battle, the road to Dhirim will be cracked open - and the conquest will be complete. The troops of the three retinues stand to be immortalized in the history books as the glorious warriors that carried Vaegira's honour to the gates of Dhirim, or as those who failed to defend their motherland's glory - and lost to the vicious Swadian curs of the south...
The map will be uploaded sometime this evening (01/06/20) to allow for some passive RP for the Vaegirs before the actual event battle occurs. Swadians will be required to make event tickets for their desired roles (preferably some variation between cavalry, infantry and crossbows) but we will not be creating a sign-up page. The Duke will be played by an administrator.
