3 May 1257, towards County of Tilbaut
The Swadian Kingdom fell in despair and chaos after Haraldsfurt was sacked and the army spread in the countryside raiding, pillaging and setting ablaze the local minor holdings. The King, battling in the North, was too far to be reached by the terrible news, but the Duke of Dhirim, Aelred de Plais, suddenly realized he was going to live a real nightmare. With the main swadian forces busy in the Northern Crusade, he was left alone facing an invasion the swadians did not notice, nor they were prepared to face.
At the news of the open war, warriors from every corner of the Tsardom started to flock around the banners of the invaders: sturdy men of the Alai sea, riders of the frozen plains of the Taiga, rangers from the woods of Curaw and knights from Reyvadin were all heading south to join the invading army with the hope to gain glory, loot and maybe land for themselves.

As the army left Haraldsfurt the next obvious target was the County of Tilbaut, where Count Rodrik Tilbaut use to rule over the surrounding areas. The Castle of Tilbaut will be no joke. Even if the locals in Haraldsfurt tried to resist with valor and pride the settlement was nothing more than a region abandoned from God, the King and the Count himself. Tilbaut, on the other hand, was the biggest fortress of the eastern regions of the Swadian Kingdom, good to resist long sieges and with incredible fortifications. Count Rodrik was a rich man, many soldiers and retainer serve him and, in times of need, he was also able to muster a good amount of armed men for offensive purposes.
"To the brave Boyars, Zentorosh, Litovoi and Rosomakha....
The fortress of Tilbaut is an incredibly big castle made of stone, surrounded by water and protected by many men, it has different layers of walls and defences and will be a tricky obstacle to you. Around the castle there are small villages and farms that provide the place with the needed food to resist the sieges. I can tell you, my good Lords, since the news of the invasion reached Tilbaut the Count demanded the peasant most of their harvest and started, frantically to craft shields and arrows for his men. Our good marshall Knyaz Fyodor Naldera, Lord of Curaw and head of the Naldera clan, commands you to capture the castle as you wont be able to march to Dhirim if you were to leave your flank exposed to the attacks of the people of Tilbaut and the city of Tadsamesh. Your quest will be a hard one, oh good Lords, but the castle of Tilbaut is not unconquerable. The first layer of defences can be assaulted by a wise commander and can be taken, however you will have to pay attention at the crossfire as well as the locals. The Count is beloved by the peasants, he's the lesser son of the former Count, that lost the rest of his offspring years ago leaving Rodridk on power, and he indeed knows what it means to be worthless. As long as they will provide the castle with food their defences will stand. Be quick, as we're hearing news of an army assembling in Dhirim. These are just rumors, but the Duke wont wait too much before gathering his faithful vassals and sally forth.
Our marshall expects great news from you..."
The County of Tilbaut is the local feudal administrative region that rules the area bordering the Vaegir Kingdom, his major settlements are the City of Tadsamesh (this will be on another map) and the Castle of Tilbaut itself that is more of a huge hub for soldiers and retainers to pause while heading to other corners of the kingdom. The castle is a massive and masterful display of force, power and wealth that the Tilbaut family amassed through the centuries. The last fortification works ended twenty years ago by Gregor Tilbaut, father of Montewar and Rodrik as he already understood the crucial importance a place like Tilbaut had during a war against the Vaegirs. That being said, the origins of the castle traces back to an ancient imperial frontier-fort, conquered first by the Battanians where they installed a local warlord. Scholars argues whether this ancient battanian warlord, by the name of Maelgwyn could have been the first recorded member of the Tilbaut dinasty but without further written records most of them also agree that one will probably never be sure of this claim. The local battanian clan ruling over the fortress that is now known as Tilbaut then swore loyalty to the last vlandian king, Osric dey Meroc and, following a progressive vlandianization of the customs, the local inhabitants of the fort followed the history of both the Vlandian and the Swadian Kingdom 'till we have records of a certain Ingalbertus dey Tilbaut, the first and certified member of the Tilbaut clan and dinasty, great-great grandfather of Gregor Tilbaut.
